Add View > Sidebar feature so that you can open to more enhancements. Also add a check for when the sidebar is closed, when the sidebar is closed, do not add files to the playlist, instead replace the entire playlist with the opened file/location. Link this to enhancement: http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5990
Scratch that. In preferences, like the other enhancement, add two options that look like so: [ ] When opening a File, replace the entire playlist. ---- [ ] If the sidebar is closed, do not use this option. This way, we can have the best of both worlds.
That should say "When opening a File or Location..."

Hey keep it simple, there is an option now to replace the current playlist with opened files, but i don't want too much options, again Parole is not Totem and i'm not willing to clone Totem. Please let me know if this option is enough or not.
View > Sidebar would still be a nice feature.
This bug has been fixed, there's a checkbutton now to hide/show the playlist sidebar in the View menu (and the state of the playlist gets restored on the next start).
