Familiar to the tagging system provided by sites like delicious.com, wouldn't it make sense to also sort files on a desktop system like this, and be that as an additional abstraction on top of the "normal" file system view?

Desired usability would include...

- ... a straightforward facility to easily add tags to a load of files (eventually resembling GNOME PaperBox[1]?),

- ... some way of navigating into tags / tag clouds / ... virtual folders? search tool?

In most situations, today, I see the recommendation to use tracker, beagle or something like that to get the job done, and usually I have to reply that I don't want a full-text index or some tool crawling my files, I simply want to attach tags to files and be capable of finding them having these tags attached.

Will something like this be possible in thunar anytime (soon)?
