Hey,

when I run a file from thunar, the application is opened with CWD sets to $HOME. Would it make sense to change CWD to the folder currently open in Thunar?

That would (for example) enables users to double click on a movie file in Thunar and have vlc correctly see the .srt (subtitles) files which are side by side to the movie file.

What do you think?

Absolutely. This has been annoying me too. Unfortunately, GAppInfo doesn't support setting the working directory when launching applications:

I'm not really happy about this situation myself to be honest.
