In normal linux consoles you can hit scroll lock to stop temporarily the execution of a script and then hit it back to let the script go on. This is what a "scroll lock" key should do. For example, it is useful when you want to stop a 'configure' script to be able to read. This doesn't work in Terminal.
Marking as invalid because this is an issue in the vte widget. Please report this in Gnome's bugzilla (already an old bug about this: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94204).
Thanks for the explanation. Apparently it's a "WONTFIX" in the gnome bugzilla for the valid reasons explained there. I didn't know it was possible to stop the execution of scripts with CTRL+s and CTRL+q which kind of solves my issue. Besides with kernel modesetting now, it is mostly bareable to use the console instead of an terminal in X.
