After deleteing a file/folder:

pressing delete again deletes the selected file/folder as expected

pressing right arrow causes it to skip a file/folder to the right

pressing down causes selection to go down and to the right

pressing left causes it to stay in the same location

pressing up causes it to go up and to the right



I run archlinux and atempted this in xfce and tried it on my friends computer who was running thunar in gnome at the time with the same results.
