panel width varies depending on day of week

The asclock view

I've set up in panel the clock with date.
It can echo the day of week (and I like it).
But. Some names of weekdays are rather long (especially in russian translation). Thatis why XFce have to enlarge the default panel width to make day of week fit into it (the thing, I don't like).

My suggenstions is to add the option of displaying not entire name of day of week, but 3-4 letter abbreviation of it.


Also I think will be good to make it possible to divide the date format into several strings (like on attached image).

In newer version of Xfce you can set a custom date string. In that case you can use %a for abbreviated weekday names.
