What version are you using? (xfce4-panel --version) It would be very helpful if you could get a backtrace of the crash. For that you need to run xfce4-panel in gdb, from a terminal: $ gdb xfce4-panel gdb> run <try to add the pager> *crash* gdb> bt <output of backtrace> That should hopefully help us find the cause of the problem.
