* This is likely a problem with your Xfce installation Installation itself is the act of installing something. There can either be something wrong with Xfce or its configuration. And are the following error messages really helpful for non-techies? * Unable to fork sudo helper: %s * Unable to read response from sudo helper: %s * Unable to open parent pipe: %s * Unable to open child pipe: %s * Got unexpected reply from sudo shutdown helper * Error sending command to shutdown helper: %s * Error receiving response from shutdown helper: %s What is forking, helper, pipe? Is there no way to put this into English? I am in the progress of translating these strings, and I just don't see how they could be of use after translation. Perhaps in English, Google it and your set, but in a language spoken by 1.1 million people, chances there will be any results are slim. Error messages better be meaningful, or they're useless.

"Installation" has a noun form. > And are the following error messages really helpful for non-techies? > * Unable to fork sudo helper: %s > * Unable to read response from sudo helper: %s > * Unable to open parent pipe: %s > * Unable to open child pipe: %s > * Got unexpected reply from sudo shutdown helper > * Error sending command to shutdown helper: %s > * Error receiving response from shutdown helper: %s They're not supposed to be useful for non-techies. Those describe things out of the control of the user that they probably can't fix. They're there so when the developer say "what error message did you see?" the user doesn't say something useless like "It said 'unknown error'". > What is forking, helper, pipe? They're technical terms for software concepts. They don't really have "common English" equivalents. If you'd like to discuss this, please use the xfce-i18n list. Bugzilla is not an appropriate place.
