Xfmedia works fine on several installs on my desktop (which use ALSA). But on my laptop it refuses to work. It segfaults every time. I have the 0.4.0.1 debian package from os-cillation. If I run xfmedia as a normal user I just get the "Segmentation Fault" notification. But if I run it as root I get the following: ** (xfmedia:16547): CRITICAL **: GtkXine: Unable to load audio output driver. Segmentation fault I should point out that I'm having to use esd for sound due to a crappy onboard sound card. It gives the same error with arts as well.
could you please get me a backtrace of the crash? http://gaim.sf.net/gdb.php should give you an idea of how to do this, if you aren't familiar with the process. i have a vague idea as to what might be causing this, but it would probably take considerable time to track it down without a backtrace. if you can recompile xfmedia passing --enable-debug=yes to configure, that will yield a more informative backtrace. thanks!
I feel like an idiot for submitting the bug report now, because it's apparently just something with the gtk2 theme I was using. I was using the Gno-SX theme and getting these constant segfaults. I switched themes and it now runs just fine. I don't know what it is about that theme but xfmedia refuses to run under it for some reason. Anyways, it runs great now and I'm a happy man. Thanks for the great app.
please use the proper resolution...
meh. stupid required comment. guess it's my fault for configuring bugzilla that way ^_~
