Bug originally reported at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-panel/+bug/255138 Version: 4.4.2 When the panel is set to become transparent when inactive, clicking on certain icons or buttons on the xfce4-panel that bring up a popup-menu (such as gnome-power-manager, nm-applet) and subsequently picking a selection from the menu or clicking somewhere off the panel (such as on the desktop or in another window) will cause the panel to remain opaque until the cursor goes over it again. For instance, if I click on the nm-applet on xfce4-panel, a menu will appear and the panel will become opaque. If I close the menu by clicking on the desktop, the panel will remain opaque. If I select any option from the menu that appears, the panel will remain opaque as well. The panel regains transparency only after I move the cursor back over the panel and then off. The expected behavior is that once the menu is closed or the focus is no longer on the panel, the panel should become transparent again. Only certain menus seem to be affected by this bug. They include: gnome-power-manager (both left and right click menus) nm-applet (both left and right click) clipman (left click only) As far as I can tell, the main menu and the places menus are not affected by this. --- The original bug reporter was using Xfce 4.4.x, but I'm still able to reproduce this issue with Xfce 4.6.0 and any app in the systray (bluetooth-applet, xfce4-power-manager for example).
I can confirm this problem also with xfce4-panel 4.8.5. My panel is configured to hide automatically. But this will not be done, when i click right on a notification-/systray-icon (e.g. Claws-Mail, Pidgin, ...), to open the context menu and after that one click to the desktop background. This will prevent the complete panel to perform the auto-hide, till i move my mouse over the panel again.
