<Alt>F8 shortcut minimizes window, not resize; no minimize window setting in ...

Description Robert Rothenberg 2009-03-06 15:04:45 CET
When I use <Alt>F8, the window is usually minimized, rather than giving me the ability to resize it.

I cannot find in the Settings menu an option for the keyboard shortcut to minimize the window, only to maximize or shade it. Judging form other shortcuts, I assume it should be <Shift><Alt>F8 instead.

Resetting defaults does not help.

Reset to Defaults fixes it temporarily, but the problem seems to recur again.

I cannot find any reference to it in xfconf-settings-editor either. Is there such a keyboard shortcut? I've not looked at the source, but it seems like there should be one.

Minimize is "Hide window" by default mapped to Alt-F9 and "resize" is Alt-F8, what are you missing?

What does "xfconf-query -c xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts -vl" give?

Hi,

Cycling through old bug reports, I believe this report should be closed. The required behaviour (minimising a window) is implemented by the "Hide Window" key.

Proposed change: I propose it is renamed to "Hide/Minimise Window" if developers agree the wording could be confusing, however this is probably rather unimportant.
