panel overlays taskbar
Status:
RESOLVED: WONTFIX

Xfce4-panel

Description xfce 2004-11-15 01:15:15 CET
I want to have the taskbar at the top and the panel just below it. This was
possible in earlier versions. However, the panel always positions itself
overlaying the taskbar. The only workaround is to position the panel at the
bottom and the taskbar at the top, or vice versa.

Note: this was an issue in 4.2 beta2 (and maybe beta2) on my PC at work (P4) but
it was not an issue on my PC at home (AMD64 running Debian pure64).

It is an issue at home (AMD64) in 4.2 RC1. I have not tried RC1 at work yet.

Yes, I am sorry, but this will no longer be possible.
Comment 2 Michael Scharkow 2004-11-17 16:21:59 CET
Does this mean any configuration which puts the panel and the taskbar next to
each other will not be possible anymore. Or is there a way to force the panel to
a fixed position?
Can I sign a petition somewhere?
[Me was so looking forward to 4.2]

Panel and taskbar can be side-by-side, just not one just above the other.

I'll vote for this one, too...

I am also particulary unhappy with this change, since I have always had my panel
just above the taskbar, please reconsider!
