Hi, i love 4.6 so far, but there are some things that could be better, and scince I'm not a very advanced C programmer I kindly ask hereby to consider to make some minor, but (for me) very important additions/changes.

1. It would be really handy to be able to specify an offset for the x/y axis, moving the root of the grid away from the correspondig screen corner.

2. The grid should reach a little over the screenborders, so that someone is able to move icons close to the border. Currently its sometimes not even possible to use the last 15% or so of the screen to place my icons nicely.
Something like "if last grid cell is at least cellwidth/2 from screenborder away, still add a cell"

3. (wow, sorry for using one request for this)
The text under the icons gets cut off normally. But when i highlight an icon the text is spread over multiple lines, still without leaving the specific cell, it really would help me to find my stuff faster if the text field shows 2 or 3 lines per default.

BTW: I just feel releaved having xfce, its so clean and functional, while still being customizable and light. It is software that is correctly done.

Thanks for your work! I really appreciate it - Almost every day.

Moving this one to xfdesktop as Thunar doesn't manage the desktop.

If you're going to be "sorry", then don't do it.

No for #1 and #2 -- eventually we'll support free positioning of icons. I don't want to waste time adding features to that code.

#3 is already fixed in master. The changes needed to fix it were too intrusive for the 4.6 branch.

Bug #4891
