If one try to drag a file (icon file for instance) to a properties dialog, if
the filename has a ":". it is rejected without a message.

Yes, at least with rox the filename is escaped and the ':' is replaced with %3a.
Xfce currently does not support that. 

I don't think I'll have time to look into this soon, so if someone else wants to
do this, that would be very much appreciated.

Won't fix for 4.2, but should work already in 4.3 SVN version.
