Hello, I have only one xfce panel with systray in it. The panel orientation is vertical. After upgrade to ubuntu 8.10 the nm-applet icon was gone. Just the icon, the program was working and it occupied few pixels on systray and if You clicked them the mnm-appplet menu was showing. To make the icon visible i change the orientation of the panel to horizontal and back to vertical. The icon stays visible until you restart xfce.
Could you try the 4.6 beta/rc panel?
Running Xubuntu on Intrepid and then updating via deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/xfce-pkg-updates/ubuntu intrepid main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/xfce-pkg-updates/ubuntu intrepid main to 4.5.91 the issue seems to be fixed. Should we really update to the 4.6 Beta ? I currently do not feel happy with that idea ... Kind regards Gerd
No, I would wait until 4.6.0 is released, but it also means I'm not going to fix the issue, since there will be no 4.4.x release anymore. Of course you could recommend 4.6.91 to the users with the problem, so they can test (and when needed, report bugs) before 4.6.0 is released ;-).
i think there is some general problem with icons in panel when the panel has vertical alignment. I'm adding governor plugin icon to the panel and once a while (after logging in) the icon is gone. Lately also "volume control" is gone. When i try to add it, panel shows thin line for a second instead of an icon. When i delete all my xfce setting files the icons are behaving normally. Can somebody help me how i can debug the situation?
Like I already said, wait for the 4.8 release.
It seems to be an issue with scaling. If you get rid of the .svg icons and let it fall back on the 24pt ones, it works fine in vertical and horizontal. I'm not sure if this is a nm-applet bug or a panel bug or some combination of both. If you use the older nm-applet (0.6.x) it works fine but as soon as you move up to 0.7.x this happens. I suspect that the network-manager guys changed something that tickled the panel but I'm not sure what it could be. The gui code for the new nm-applet seems to be almost completely re-written.
New systray implementation in 4.6, new chances. Please reopen the bug if you can still reproduce this in Xfce 4.6.
