Created attachment 1851 Add command to execute on click I've written a little patch which adds a new option to execute a command when clicking on the clock plugin. This is useful to execute e.g. 'orage' or any other calendar application. It would be cool if this could go in before Beta 1 (feature freeze). Thanks.
I've rejected a patch like this not too long ago IIRC. IMO it's beyond the clock functionality and Orage has it's own clock with click support.
And the datetime plugin has also a similar functionality but it is unusuable in a vertical panel, the same way as Orage is unusable in such a configuration. The LCD clock is the only clock widget which can be displayed in a vertical panel while staying readable.
Well that's not really the point. A fact is: the clock is not a launcher.
Hmm ok. It has been just nice but I wrote now a little GTK app which simply shows a GtkCalendar widget and I added a launcer to my panel for this app. Not exactly what I wanted but it works.
Plugins should only provide the functionality they _need_. We have to draw a line somewhere to keep Xfce 'lightweight'.I hope you understand. Lucky enough you can always apply the patch yourself ;-).
Sure, you are right. From my point of view it would have been a good addition according to my 'special' needs :). But in general you are right, adding tons of possibly unnecessary code doesn't help at all.
