Add OnlyShowIn=XFCE; to~/.xconfig/autostart/xfce4-volstatus-icon.desktop

IMO this application should only start in XFCE if a user has several desktops installed. Patch for xfce4-volstatus-icon-0.1.0 is attached.

No, the user chooses to add it to start automatically or not. If they want it to only start in Xfce, they should set that themselves. (Which reminds me, the xfce autostart editor should have an option for that...)

Er, whoops, wrong resolution.

IMHO it should be vice versa. I want to have it autostarted in Xfce, but not in Gnome, KDE, whatever because all these desktops have their own way of handling removable media. So if someone wants to start it in another desktop he should need to set it up manually there. It's easier to add this in kcontol or gnome-session-preferences then to edit the desktop file. As .config/autostart is parsed by many desktops the file there should have OnlyShowIn by default.

Just my 2 Cents, of course it's your decision ;) Think about it.
