While xfce-mcs-manager is running xchat crashes with a floating point exception. However if I open a terminal and kill mcs-manager and repeat the launching of xchat it loads properly. here is a backtrace from xchat while the mcs-manager is running (gdb) file xchat Reading symbols from /usr/local/bin/xchat...done. Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1". (gdb) run Starting program: /usr/local/bin/xchat Program received signal SIGFPE, Arithmetic exception. 0x0806dfd8 in gtk_xtext_adjustment_set (buf=0x139, fire_signal=0) at xtext.c:726 726 adj->page_size = Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. launch xfce4 2. open terminal 3. excute xchat Actual Results: output in the terminal window reads bash-3.00$ xchat Floating point exception Expected Results: xchat should've launched properly using xorg cvs to enable savage dri support PIII 500MHz slot1 320MB RAM Slackware-Current
I forgot to add the bug only occurs in 4.2beta2 and cvs but not in 4.0.6 and can be reproduced with atleast 2.0.10 and 2.4.0 version of xchat
if xchat is crashing, it likely is a bug in xchat, not in xfce. it's possible xchat is relying on the presence of some system setting which we're not providing; xchat should fail gracefully, not crash. i'll let benny make final determination since he knows the mcs manager better.
Thats right, it looks like a bug in xchat (esp. since its crashing while setting up an adjustment and I don't see how this could be Xfce's fault). By the way, I'm using XChat right now and it works fine. Please report the problem to the xchat people.
Right, from the comments I conclude this is not an xfce bug.
