Hey, recently I tried xfce4-settings and was impressed. There were a few points that I like to be enhanced: * hpaneds instead of hboxes in the dialogs with a gtkscrollable on the left, ie. cursor and screen dialogs. So the window still remains small but people can easily look at the screen, mouse and icon names * accelerators on the notebook labels for more accessibility and convenience for non-click-and-suprise users - xfdesktop uses them as well, only session and xfwm will be missing then * an additional label of the chosen icon cursor theme, because the name is not visible veryx well when the scrollable is not wide enough. It just makes browsing themes way more comfortable * the strings of the dialogs were not completely translatable as their files * bring the settings manager to the very front - it is explicitly requested by the user, so there's really no reason to hide it behind browser windows or whatever Thanks for your consideration Fabian
Created attachment 1773 Patch to fix these things This patch is against prior r27345, tried to update most of it to not forget changes to r27451. The display-dialog is completely differnt, so you will only be able to have a look at what I mean and adapt the current version manually. So itroduces lots of hpaneds, fixed POTFILES.in, adds another label to the icon chooser dialog and gtk_window_presents the settings manager.
In the future, please submit separate reports for each bug. It makes it a lot easier to keep track of what's fixed and what isn't... and besides, it's so satisfying to mark bugs fixed... so much more fun to do that several times instead of just once ^_^. Ditto for patches -- please submit separate patches for unrelated changes. And there's never a need to gzip them. Now I can't view it in my browser, and, since I'm kinda busy... I'm just not gonna look at it and leave it for someone else.
Most of the *huge* patch does not apply anymore. please open individual bugs to discuss the various changes. Thanks in advance and sorry for closing this, but such long patches are unmanageable.
