I can't add minicmd to the xfce4 panel. The option is missing. I installed xfce 4.2 beta 2 with the script installer. Other options are missing too. Here are the contents of /usr/local/lib/xfce4/panel-plugins/ # ls /usr/local/lib/xfce4/panel-plugins/ libclock.la* libmailcheck.so* libsystembuttons.la* libclock.so* libmixer.la* libsystembuttons.so* libdesktopmenu.a libmixer.so* libsystray.a libdesktopmenu.la* libpager.la* libsystray.la* libdesktopmenu.so* libpager.so* libsystray.so* libeyes.a libseparator.la* libtriggerlauncher.a libeyes.la* libseparator.so* libtriggerlauncher.la* libeyes.so* libswitcher.la* libtriggerlauncher.so* libmailcheck.la* libswitcher.so* The other options were not installed, it seems. I don't know if this is a bug or if it's intended so. Can I just import the plugins from the previous version of xfce into this folder, or should I download them from xfce.org?
I fetched some plugins from my previous installation of xfce, and most of them work fine. My only problem is with minicmd(!) which does not want to accept the cursor, so I can't issue commands from it. It's a pity, I like to have an easy way of launching a command without opening a terminal.
ALT-F2 is pretty fast also ?
the minicmd plugin isn't a default part of xfce, and needs to be installed separately, as you sorta found out. as for the plugin not accepting focus, jasper: could this have something to do with the changes to the panel's focus handling? (don't recall if this went in before or after beta2.)
A goodies installer is in the works, it should be finished by the end of the day. Until then, an experimental version can be found here: ftp://os-cillation.com/installers/experimental/xfce-goodies-4.2BETA2-installer.bin
Focus changes went in after beta2, so apparently the installer uses a snapshot of CVS of a later time. I'll update the minicmd plugin soon.
Right, I thought it would be worth to include the new panel stuff (didn't know that would render the minicmd plugin useless).
As long it's not called "beta2", it's fine, you can include whatever you want. But if you call it "beta2", then it must be exactly what's tagged in CVS.
Right, I'll fix it.
I just released xfce4-minicmd-plugin 0.3.0. Update and you should be fine.
If you want my 2 cents, the original poster problem was not that the focus was not working with minicmd, but rather that the plugins were not available from the list of choices... So it's nice to have the minicmd problem ficed, but I doubt that will help fixing this particular bug :)
>the original poster problem was not that the focus was not working with minicmd, but rather that the plugins were not available from the list of choices... Actually it was both... I'll try the new version of minicmd >ALT-F2 is pretty fast also ? Indeed, I discovered it later in the evening...
