the situation is a notebook with a docking station and an external screen attached. The second screen isn't in xinerama mode but in separate screen mode. When the notebook is used in roadwarrior mode, the panels of the external screen are open in the notebook screen.
The enhancement will be to disable the component of the external screen when he is not present.

This will work in the 4.8 panel for different monitors (xrandr) not screens.

Devel branch has been merged in master. A 4.7.0 release will follow soon. If you think this bug is not fixed? Feel free to reopen the bug.
