Hey,

as said on goodies-dev@ and #xfce-dev, it'd be nice if the xfce4-screenshooter tool could respect the default directory set in the plugin.

Cheers,

Alternatively to using the plugin's preferences, the
xfce4-screenshooter application might provide a command line option for
setting the directory to use for the image.
I don't use the plugin but instead have the stand-alone app bound to a
key and I prefer to save screenshots in /tmp than in my home directory.
Would be cool if the desired path could be passed by a command line
option (or ideally by a setting without the need of the panel plugin).

I'll add a preferences dialog for the executable with a separate config file and a command line switch to punctially override this setting.

Should be fixed with the last revision of trunk.

There is a -s switch to set a custom save folder and a -p switch which brings up a dialog to select a default save folder.

The -p switch is not available in xfce4-screenshooter-1.7.9-2.fc14.x86_64

Is '-s' not sufficient?

Ok, what part of https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=669766#c6 or
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=669766#c7 is still unclear?

It's clear now. I would appreciate to have an option in the settings dialog of the plugin to change the fixed /tmp folder to something else. Probably a feature rquest then.

Hi,

I am using Fedora 14 with xfce4-screenshooter-1.7.9-2.fc14.x86_64.

Is it somehow possible to change the fixed location to store the
temporary pictures taken with the plugin to something else than /tmp?

It seems to be hard coded for the usage of the plugin. I do not talk
about the -s switch of the cli application. Maybe the plugin can use
also the setting from the config file?

$ grep dir ~/.config/xfce4/xfce4-screenshooter
screenshot_dir=file:/var/tmp

Another good usability solution is in my opinion to provide a
possibility in the settings dialog of the plugin to set a fixed
location to use for the "open with" option.

I am looking forward to what you think of my idea. :)

Regards,
R.Groner
