User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.7) Gecko/20070924 BonEcho/2.0.0.7
Build Identifier:

One of the PCs is being used by several people, randomly. Logging in and out
is not practical. I'd like a way to identify and select the desktops easily,
preferably by name or maybe a picture of the user.
At first sight, the pager would be the most logical place to add the feature,
maybe adding a preference to select 1) miniature pages 2) name of the desktop
(As set elsewhere) 3) selectable jpg's

The desktop selector with names is available in IceWM, and was very practical.
I'd hate to go back to IceWM for that one feature though.

Maybe I'm missing some other (existing) possibility?

Reproducible: Always

You can show the workspace names in the pager, for icon support, please file a bug in Gnome's bugzilla under the libwnck product.
