User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.12) Gecko/20080217 SeaMonkey/1.1.8
Build Identifier:

Currently the XFCE tasklist plugin doesn't differentiate between multiple screens, even if each respective screen has it's own instance of a panel+tasklist.

I want to be able to see a list of windows which are on my left screen only in my left taskbar. I don't want my left taskbar to show the windows I have open on both my left and my right screen.

Gnome has had this functionality since oct2006, see http://www.lloydleung.com/2006/10/14/gnome-multiple-monitor-taskbar-window-listing/

(It would be ideal if both screens acted as seperate workspaces, so the pager would work as expected too. But I can imagine this too be a more fundamental problem.)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

Actual Results:
Both my left and my right tasklist show all windows I have opened across both screens. This is very cluttery.

Expected Results:
If I have an xterm open on my left screen and a mozilla in my right, I'd expect the xterm to only show up in the left tasklist, and mozilla only on the right.

Gnome knows how to do this

Let me add a request for this too. If you could bring it forward to 4.6, it would be fabulous :-)

Not in 4.6 anymore, since we're in bugfix mode now.

Sorry for bumping this request, but I was wondering if there was something I could do to help out to make this work -since gnome already have this working, maybe some pointer might get me on my way? I'm not a proficient programmer, but I sorta know my way around code.

Likewise - this would be really nice to have. I entirely understand that we end users (who don't submit patches) have no right to do any more than just ask nicely - and that to specifically seek out developer time would require a proper financial remuneration, which I can't afford to pay at a decent rate.

Nevertheless, this feature is worth $50 to me, and I'd be happy to donate that to XFCE or the FSF or buy a round of pizzas in return. Is this a reasonable thing to ask? I know it undervalues developer time, and is somewhat bug-spam, so if this request is inappropriate, please tell me.

Thanks - Richard

I'm already working on a better panel for 4.8 which includes a better tasklist. So please give me some time...

I recently upgraded to the 4.6 branch and to my delight found that the taskbar now works as expected: on my left taskbar I see the programs which are open on my left screen, on my right taskbar I see the programs open on my right screen. No more duplicates. Hurray \o/

Thanks for your work, xfce guys and gals!
