Steps to Reproduce:
1. launch thunar
2. clear the location bar
3. press ~

(I did not press enter)
Actual Results:  
segmentation fault

Expected Results:  
Like visiting any directory, show a dropdown list of matches in the /home/user directory.

As of 0.8.0 I cannot reproduce this bug.  I see that 0.8.0 was the version originally tested for this report.

Perhaps I had a recent update to some library/dependency which Thunar uses and it fixed the problem?
