Remember exact directory view position
Status:
RESOLVED: WONTFIX

Description Mathias Brodala 2007-08-15 22:36:25 CEST
User-Agent: Opera/9.22 (X11; Linux i686; U; de)
Build Identifier:

Thunar currently does not remember the exact directory view position but instead moves up or down to make icons fully visible. The resulting offset can be noticeable and confusing as to why Thunar moves the view around.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a directory with many files/directories
2. Scroll so that icons at the top of the view are partially visible
3. Go into another directory
4. Return to the previous directory

Actual Results:
Thunar aligns the view to the icon grid and discards the actual previous view.

Expected Results:
The view should be restored exactly as it was.

There is a technical limitation here. If you resize the window (or the content changed) the scrollbar position is not valid anymore. The remembered file often is.
