It seems that the menus are not working in CVS as of today (they were working yesterday, but I updated). I cannot right-click on the desktop, nor can I click on my Xfce menu. I tried creating a new menu file (thinking that perhaps the XML syntax had changed) and also tried editing the menu files.
Benny told me the problem: in /usr/lib/xfce4/modules/, xfce4_desktop_menu.so should have been changed to libxfce4_desktop_menu.so. Change the name and all is well. Just so you developers know where to look. ;)
not really the problem, actually. i changed the name on purpose, but didn't properly change the name that the menu module tries to open. fixed now, though.
Hi! After running newly built XFCE4.2RC1 I found that my desktop menu disappear. In console I found log: ** (xfdesktop:3482): CRITICAL **: XfceDesktopMenu init failed (The XfceDesktopMenu module could not be loaded: /opt/xfce-4.2RC1/lib/xfce4/modules/xfce4_desktop_menu.so: undefined symbol: quit) ** (xfdesktop:3482): WARNING **: xfdesktop: Unable to initialise menu module. Right-click menu will be unavailable. Using google to found solution, I found only one reference to such bug - but in earlier version of XFCE. But this bug also has no solution. Then I found similar bug in xfce bugzilla and I tried to rename xfce4_desktop_menu.so to libxfce4_desktop_menu.so, but then i got an error "Cannot find xfce4_desktop_menu.so"
your problem is unrelated to this bug. you want bug 501, which is fixed in CVS as well as it's going to bed fixed.
