My right-click desktop menu is nested in my panel menu. When I update it and save it, it still shows up in my panel as the old menu, even if I delete .cache/xfce4/desktop/* and .cache/xfdesktop/*.
Additional information: I also tried to remove, to save, to add, and then to save my panel menu, thinking that it would be wiped then.
by "nested" are you just saying that you're using the "Xfce Menu" panel plugin? when you update and save it, are you editing the file directly, or using the menu editor? and which file are you editing? (note: ~/.cache/xfdesktop/ is old and not used anymore.)
Yes, the "Xfce menu" panel plugin. I'm using the menu editor and I'm editing the small file (~/.xfce4/menu.xml). The large file, which I've also tried editing, is ~/.xfce4/bigmenu.xml. Very creative and obscure filenames, I assure you. Whether or not it is used, ~/.cache/xfdesktop was there, so I tried deleting it. Good to know I didn't delete anything used, though. (Brian Tarricone asked me to assign this to him, but I didn't know how, so if one of the mods could do that, that would be great. Thanks.) edited on: 09-17 12:43
i'm brian ^_~. anyway... locations for the files have changed, and xfdesktop should have already moved them for you. it now looks in ~/.config/xfce4/desktop/ for menu.xml.
