In fact, both of this is awkward to me. So here are my suggestions: 1. One way would be to drag the icon of a window's title bar onto the panel. 2 Second choice would be to right-click an iconbox icon and have something like 'stick to panel', so that the icon stays even if the program is closed. 3. Third choice would be to drag a taskbar/ iconbox item to a launcher area. I hope that at least two of those options are doable. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
You can not read the .desktop information from a running process (which might have various names) so this is not possible without hacks. Personally I don't see the advantage of this idea since your not adding launcher to the panel all day, so a few clicks extra to create one won't hurt. We going to improve launcher creating by a better integration in the new app finder, so please wait for that.
