User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.9) Gecko/20061206 Firefox/1.5.0.9 Build Identifier: I have my notebook connected to an external monitor, using it as a subdisplay of the main TFT. So i have :0.0 as the main screen, :0.1 as the external monitor. After upgrading to 4.4 (from 4.2.3.2) i had two panels on :0.0, one on the top, acting as tasklist/workspace-monitor, one on the bottom, acting as launcher. If i try to edit the properties of an item in the launcher panel (bottom on :0.0), the according window opens on :0.1, which is very clumsy, because i have to move the mouse over to the other screen. If i'm at home or travelling, this would be unacceptable, because there is no external monitor connected and i wouldn't see the window at all. If i open a file dialog from the properties window, it again opens on the other screen (:0.0 in this case), so i have to go back with the mouse again. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. start xfce with dual screen :0.0/:0.1 setup 2. edit properties on 2nd panel 3. properties open on the other display Expected Results: Expected would be, that all windows belonging to a panel/properties/dialog appear on the exact same screen as their parent.
Does this happen every time, or only occasionally? As far as I can tell from the code, we are requesting the correct screen for all dialogs, but apparently it can still go wrong...
I have the same problem. Two screens (:0.0 and :0.1) and some parts of the XFCE environments are _always_ displayed on :0.0 regardless I'm using it on :0.0 or :0.1. The parts implies : - properties of a panel - completion list of pathes under thunar - display manager settings The correct screen is not well determined. I think only the display part (:0) is read and not the screen part (.1) in these cases. Reproductable : Always Steps to Reproduce: same steps as described by Bernd Raschke Expected Results: parts displayed on the correct screen.
I'm investigating multiscreen issues right now. For me the panel properties show on the correct screen, while the properties of i.e. the launcher are displayed on the wrong screen. Please confirm that with 4.4.2 the panel properties are still displayed on the wrong display.
Unfortunately i can no longer reproduce, as the setting has changed. For some time i had no external monitor and dropped my xorg.conf and now i use xrandr to activate the external display. With xrandr everything works as expected, which is good, since the display is always :0.0, i no longer have :0.1
