Squeeze needs an icon, see http://squeeze.xfce.org/news#needs-icon for more information. In general, if you want your icon to be part of Squeeze, it will have to conform to the following guidelines. 1) Licensed under GPL 2) 1 Scalable icon (.svg) 3) 1 icon rendered at 16x16px and 1 rendered at 48x48px (.png) All inside a .tar.gz archive. Please include an AUTHORS file containing your name and e-mail adress.

how about a mangle with a file in it or an archive. something like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/bb/Mangle.jpg/180px-Mangle.jpg i'll try to create something in the next days, but i'm rather busy atm, so maybe after the next week..
btw, you should include the other sizes (16px,22px,24px and scalable(the 48px svg)(, when you have the icon. i think there is currently only a folder for 48px png in the current svn version of squeeze. 16x16 is used in the xfce apps menu 22x22 is used in thunar's dialog to specify the app to open a file with 24x24 is used somewhere too, not sure where atm >=48x48 should use the svg.

well, yo(In reply to comment #6) > (In reply to comment #5) > > btw, you should include the other sizes (16px,22px,24px and scalable(the 48px > > svg)(, when you have the icon. i think there is currently only a folder for > > 48px png in the current svn version of squeeze. > > 16x16 is used in the xfce apps menu > > 22x22 is used in thunar's dialog to specify the app to open a file with > > 24x24 is used somewhere too, not sure where atm > > >=48x48 should use the svg. > > > > the reason 48x48 and 16x16 will do is the following: > > 48x48 is mandatory for the spec > 16x16 is the smallest available icon > > if it renders ok for 16x16, isn't it safe to assume it does so for 22x22 and > 24x24? > well, the 16x16, 22x22 and 24x24 versions are png files so they are pixel precise and only work for those sizes. take a look at icon sizes at http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Fridays and http://tango.freedesktop.org/Generic_Icon_Theme_Guidelines#Sizes take a look at some icons in the xfce desktop menu and the icon for the same app in the dialog to chose which app you want to use to open a specific file type in thunar. those are different icons, because they have different sizes. using the same icon for different sizes smaller than 48x48 results in ugly blurred icons.

What about an alternative approach to the term 'squeeze'? Something like a handshake or something? http://jalbum.net/images/icons/handshake.gif A handshake is actually the third thing I thought of, but I'd recon that boobs or behinds are not really suited as icons for an archive manager ;) Just an idea, -H-
As of Revision 25414: Squeeze has a temporary icon to fill the gap until 1.0 comes around.

Created attachment 1105 late but honest I know it's a little late, but I made it anyways, so maybe you will find it useful for something.
that looks really cool, nice work! i had thought of sth like that too, but always thought it would be too near to sound-juicer, but imho this should be definately the squeeze icon :) i like it a lot! btw, i couldn't open the citron.tar.gz you attached with squeeze from svn, neither did tar xzvf citron.tar.gz work, i had to gunzip first and then tar xf it. how did you create that archive? ;)
Created attachment 1106 improved a little (mainly the 16 one) Why, I used Squeeze of course. But I have the same problem unpacking *any* tarball from this page, while the tarball I created opens with no problems. A quick diff reveals that bugzilla seems to corrupt these files a little. Gunzipping them and then untarring works fine.
Creating a page on the website to display the icons which are send in so far[0]. When squeeze reaches beta stage, people can use this page to vote for the icon of their choice. Personally, I think you've done a great job so far. :-) Mike, unfortunately I could not yet include your cheese because you did not supply a 16x16 version. If you add that, I will add your icon to the website too. - Stephan [0]: http://squeeze.xfce.org/about/icons
Created attachment 1159 new attempt. trying to keep the temporary icon and merge it with the lime idea.
Created attachment 1160 lime icon. added 22x22, 24x24 sizes plus some fine tuning.
Created attachment 1161 some aligning fixes and changed some coloring.
Created attachment 1175 squeeze_tango_lime.tar.gz tangoish lime icon
So far, thank you for your designs (Sebastian, i've just added yours to the website aswell). All kinds of great icons are send in already, and this bug will be open for quite some time (Until 1.0-Beta is released, which will not happen for a while). (In reply to comment #0) > 1) Licensed under GPL With so many neat icons send in, I want to be sure we agree that this is GPL version 2 or later, the same license and condition used for Squeeze itself. Because I failed to mention that before, I would like to have the acknowledgment and approval of all the people who send in one or more icons so far. Regards, Stephan
squeeze is not maintained anymore, closing.
