Currently Squeeze checks for available archivers every time it starts. But on some systems this could take a while. If Squeeze somehow caches the result, stores this and then forces libsqueeze to use support-objects x, y and z. Then the archivers do not need to be searched. When a new archiver has been installed, or an old one removed, a command-line option --rescan-archives could reset the cache to the current status.
this should be an option and disabled by default, imho. with the current way, it's more flexible and updates automatically.
not sure if this should be implemented, but this is really not that important
squeeze is not maintained anymore, closing.
