using mplayer
if the mplayer window is moved beyond the desktop limits, the whole x server freezes, unable to kill the server neither switch to another tty

Without any deeper knowledge of the problem details, I'd say that's definitly a problem with either X or mplayer. I fail to see how Xfce would be involved here.

I definitely second what BEnny said. It's probably a bug in the xv driver in Xorg, not something related to xfce.

BTW, how do you move the mplayer windows beyond limits? Can you clarify?

grabing the window by title bar and moving the window in a way a part of it becomes unseen...sorry bad english, bad explanations

Ok. But the remark remains, it's not a bug with xfce, but with Xorg. There is nothing we (ie xfce developpers) can do about it, you should report this to xorg mailing list: xorg@lists.freedesktop.org

ok
what's strange is that i've never had this problem with gnome
Comment 6 Jean-François Wauthy editbugs 2007-01-09 16:14:12 CET
personally i had that problem when the compositor was enabled, but it was months ago
Comment 7 mihozu 2007-01-09 17:10:55 CET
i've disabled the compositor and actually i don't have this problem anymore
Comment 8 Olivier Fourdan editbugs 2007-01-09 19:56:30 CET
Glad you found a workaround, but still, I think you should report that on Xorg mailing list to check if it's known issue.

What video card do you have? Do you run an open source driver? A bit aog googling gives some results but nothing really precise.
