Status:
RESOLVED: FIXED

Description Andreas Korzinowski 2007-01-04 13:44:29 CET
When launching Terminal it appears without windowborders and
topline. I can´ t change the size or the position of the window.
After reinstalling snapshot 24050 all works fine.

System:
Linux 386, Debian/Xubuntu 6.10 (Edgy Eft)
The Snapshot 24050 works fine.

Err, didn't Olivier said it was a bug in xfwm4?

Yes, and it's fixed in svn too.

Things can get nasty if you set XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS for some apps and not with others.

Typically, XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS hides ARGB32 visuals from the app that's running. So you you run Terminal w/out XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS set, then "real" ARGB32 will work, but if you then run the WM with XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS set, then the WM is not able to reparent the ARGB32 window in its top level window frame because it can't find a matching visual/depth. In this case, xfwm4 simply don't reparent the window, while metacity and kwin dies with an error.

So, what I can tell so far is, as long as the set up is correct (ie the user don't mess up with XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS, it works fine with xfwm4 from svn trunk).

So, it's xfwm4, not Terminal (for the record).

...and Olivier said it's fixed.
