Both Windows and GNOME allows "backspace" key to go to parent folder. I hope thunar can copy this.

Backspace is used to go to the previously visited folder.

I think Alt-Left already does this. I guess there is room we change the behavior to match the experience of other major desktop environments.

You can use Alt+Up to go to the parent folder.
