User-Agent: Opera/9.02 (X11; Linux i686; U; de) Build Identifier: Today I accidentaly found out who is eating all the memory on my system and makes it slow after a few days: Xfdesktop. Since I couldn’t start any programs via menu on the desktop, I killed xfdesktop and started it again. After that only ~100MB of my Swap were in use whereas it have been ~1000MB before. And my system works faster now. Up until now I suspected Xfwm4 for being the performance eater. Please ask if you need more info. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start xfdesktop 2. Run system for a week or so 3. Watch output of top 4. Kill xfdesktop & start it again 5. Watch output of top again Actual Results: A considerable amount of swap was freed after restarting xfdesktop.
