User-Agent: Opera/9.02 (X11; Linux i686; U; de)
Build Identifier:

Thunar can show and mount plugged media directly from it’s sidebar, which is very neat. However, the device name for my flashdisk and my digital camera will both be something like „sda[N]“.

But I have set up udev rules so that a symlink with a more meaningfullier name („flashdisk“ and „exilim“) are created under /dev for each device.

Could Thunar somehow get to know the names of these symlinks and show them instead in the sidebar?

Reproducible: Always

This is something for HAL then, as we simply use the device file name provided by HAL.

OK, so how should I proceed now? Should I file a feature request to freedesktop.org?

Maybe ask on the HAL mailinglist?

Alright, I’ll try that first since I don’t want to think of another password for an account.
