Had no problems with previous revisions. With the latest revision (23751), xfdesktop does not compile with file icon support.

I'm using:
./autogen.sh --prefix=/opt/xfce4 --enable-thunarx --with-x --with-gconf=no --with-gnome=no

$ xfdesktop --version
This is xfdesktop version 4.3.99.2, running on Xfce 4.3.99.2.
Built with GTK+ 2.10.6, linked with GTK+ 2.10.6.
Build options:
    Desktop Menu:        enabled
    Desktop Icons:       enabled
    Desktop File Icons:  disabled

If you'd actually read the output, you'd see that your version of thunar needs to be updated.
