XMMS is a border-less window, the move are managed by the application itself, not the window manager.

The application moves its own window by itself...

Just out curiousity, why does it then snap to the screen border?

Because XMMS knows about screen borders and has that feature implemented...

As for why it works with alt+click, it's because Alt+Click is managed by the window manager (Alt+click is grabbed by the WM and not handled by XMMS)...

Keep in mind that XMMS is unmaintained theses days, and its implementation is older than the EMMH standard that GNOME, KDE and Xfce uses nowadays.

If you want the move to be managed by the WM, simple enable "Show window manager decorations" option in XMMS settings (XMMS menu->Options->Preferences, "Options" tab, select "Show window manager decorations").
