no way to show it / focus it / walk in there using keyboard. My panel is autohidden, and i show it up by showing the app-desktop-menu via keyboard-shortcut - which works, but IMO this is a side efect and it may disappear one day. If this behaviour is not a side effect, then it should be documented as a feature/howto. Walking there is just not possible with keyboard - which may be ok, i haven't seen system that allows it.
It's hard to do, since the panel doesn't normally receive focus. this is important, because I don't want windows to lose focus every time the user clicks on a panel item. Opening the menu unhides the panel not as a side effect, but by using a function in the panel API. Other plugins can do the same if they want. In my experience a panel, any panel, is very much something you use with a mouse. For keyboard control something like the run dialog or xfce4-appfinder would be more convenient, I would expect. That's the reason this hasn't been a priority for me. That doesn't mean it wouldn't be nice to have, though. Thanks for the report.
this is ok; if there is a constant (and documented as feature) way to show it up, that should be enough. is it possible to assign keyboard shortcuts to all/any panel-plugins?
