Frankly, I was against the inactive opacity (even if there was patches submitted), but included it because ppl kept asking for that. Changing opacity for active windows would definitely kill usability and I really vote against such a functionality.
Certainly it's your prerogative to add/not add features. But just so you know, 1) i use Mac OS X with WindowShade and have active window at 90% opacity, inactives at ~50% and do the same with KDE/Xgl/Beryl and I find it quite usable, in fact more usable than not, since I can see thru what I am working on to my email, chat, etc. but that is maybe just me; and 2) I am not sure about a policy of not including options because they kill usability... I mean, xfce is all about choice right? i can't count how many folks I know tell me that not having a desktop i can put things on, and not having a trash can make my desktop "unusable". All that said, it is of course up to you and I will continue using this fine desktop environment either way (though I will probably patch in active window transparency myself...). Thanks for the reply, I am marking this as closed based on your vote against it.
