No option to use file icons

$ xfdesktop --version
This is xfdesktop version 4.3.99.1, running on Xfce 4.3.99.1.
Built with GTK+ 2.10.6, linked with GTK+ 2.10.5.
Build options:
    Desktop Menu:        enabled
    Desktop Icons:       enabled
    Desktop File Icons:  enabled

The only options that appear in the 'Desktop Icons' combobox are:
  None
  Minimized application icons

Someone else in #xfce confirmed that they were seeing the same thing. At one point I definitely had the option for file icons, although I don't use this feature so I don't know at what point it got lost.

I restarted it, nothing changed. Still no option.
