pulling up the menu means a lot of precise manipulations to find calendar.

I expected to find a (dbl-)click on the clock would bring it up or at least find an entry in the "Add items to panel" dlg.

time and date are obviously linked (indeed I believe both are facets of orage), a trigger off the clock would be ideal.

You should have panel pluging called orageclock.
You can click it and it pops up orage.

thanks a lot that's almost exactly what I wanted. When it said clock I thought it was a clock, when it looked just like the other clock I deleted it.

This orage name is going to come bach and haunt you with the confusion it will cause.

I speak french and it means storm. This little gem of wisdom sheds no light on the fact that it is a calendar.

So : orage , nice but meaningless name , leads to confusion.
panel presence looks identical to other clock but it's different , confusion.

Why should a use choose to install orageclock when he already sees clock, confusion.

I have what I want . Many thanks . you may want to look at whether the interface is logical. I wont be the last user to be confused by the above issues.

regards.

PS I said "almost".

how do I turn off the week number and the seconds. Seems this is missing form props or I dont understand the interface . Thanks++.

Yep. Confusion is possible sine the name is not hinting ti time or calendar.
But we wanted a fresh name. Similar to firefax or thunar.....

You can get seconds off by using for example format %R instead of the default %X.

Week number I am not sure. Do you mean in the calendar window or the tooltip?
Those are fixed and you can not change them, so week number is always visible
there.

If you have more issues with orage-clock, please file a bug against it. ; )

My comment on the name refered to the lable "orage/clock" in the panel's add item list. suggest orage clock/calendar.

As for the name orage itself, I rather like it as a name but think subcomponents should have simple explicit names.

A desktop WM or a web browser may warrant a "stylish" name since hopefully it will become a major project. A small cmpt like a calendar plugin for the XFCE desktop panel probably would be better with a name that suggests its function.

just my 2c.

Week number:

yes I was refering to the tooltip. I find week number here just clutters the eyeand makes it longer to assimilate the information that is presended. A tooltip should be fast and easy to read.

I think this would be better as a feature on the calendar. This is where ppl are more likely to be interested in week number (if at all).

I could go between the month and the year scrollers maybe. 33/52 would be more compact than woche 52, week 52 , semaine 52, etc and be internationalised for all.

many thanks for your help.

retitled this bug to reflect the main issue (as I now understand what it was).

suggest labeling this item "orage clock/calendar" since there is no _apparent_ way to add the calendar although there is in reality.

regards
