Orage skips months

Description Ray Emerson 2006-07-28 02:20:25 CEST
On pressing the arrows to the right and left of the month name in Orage, the step is of two months instead of one. E.g., if the current month is July, pressing the increase arrow bring you to September, with no way to reach August.

I don't have this bug. If I click once, I am moving to the following month.

*But* it looks like the widget behaviour has changed: if I keep my mousebutton pressed, months will continue to change. I don't remember it was like this before. The current GTK doc doesn't tell anything about this.

I keep the bug open for a while, if you have more to say.
Comment 2 Ray Emerson 2006-07-28 03:20:09 CEST
Keeping the mouse button down doesn't visibly change the months for me, but, after releasing the button, it does move by more than one or two months.

Additionally, I've found that using the left mouse button gives the two-month skip in all cases, both forward and reverse. Using the right mouse button gives the expected one-month behaviour. This also happens with the year (LMB = 2 years skipped, RMB = 1 year skipped).

I'm curious if this is a result of the Debian build used (4.3.90.1svn+r21712-0ubuntu1), and not necessarily of the originating source code.

I can't reproduce this.
Does wheel work correctly? It should change the month also.

Also would be interestign to know the GTK' version. For example:
xfwm4 --version
        This is xfwm4 version 4.3.90.2 (revision 22534) for Xfce 4.3.90.2
        Released under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
        Compiled against GTK+-2.8.6, using GTK+-2.8.6.

(This looks like a GTK issue, but perhaps we can find a workaround if we can duplicate it. I do not think we touched this code at all in 4.4 orage.)

Also we have a couple of more gtk_calender in Orage.
Do you see the same problem when you are modifying an appointment and
pick a date from teh gtk_calendar window?
Or pick an end date in the recurrence tab?

In reply to the first:

  The mouse wheel changes the month as expected.

XXXXXXXXXXX:~$ xfwm4 --version
        This is xfwm4 version 4.3.90.2 (revision 21712) for Xfce 4.3.90.2
        Released under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
        Compiled against GTK+-2.8.17, using GTK+-2.8.18.

And to the second:

  Both of those cases behave as expected.

Thanks.

This can happen if the auto repeat in the system is faster than what Orage
can handle. Thanks for reporting this!

Need to fix this somehow.
Comment 7 juha editbugs 2006-07-29 07:12:32 CEST
This should now work in svn revision 22555.
Fix will be in RC1.

Since I was never really able to reproduce, it would be good if you can check
and verify that I fixed the right issue and it now works for you.
Comment 8 Ray Emerson 2006-07-30 02:13:55 CEST
After a bit of compiling, it seems to be working just fine. Thanks for the quick response.

Moving all bugs to new Orage product.
Comment 10 Nils Renaud 2017-11-28 17:52:18 CET
I've got the bug on my system too. When I left click on the right arrow in the calendar window, it jumps to a not so random month (could be the mouse click auto-repeat indeed).
For example, my 3 last tries :
- nov 2017 -> aug 2018
- nov 2017 -> apr 2018
- nov 2017 -> jan 2018

I've got this bug for a couple of years now (and I waited until yet to report it... I know...). Since then I upgraded my system version many times (upgrade/dist-upgrade) and it has never been fixed.

BUT the wheel works fine :)
