User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 Build Identifier: xfce4 version 4.3.90.2 (Xfce 4.4 BETA1) I'm trying to use alt-space instead of alt-tab to cycle windows for ease of use with vnc I've got two keythemerc files ~/.themes/vnc/xfwm4/keythemerc /usr/share/themes/Default/xfwm4/keythemerc I've edited both to have the line "cycle_windows_key=Alt+space" and I have also tried to switch using settings manager->window manager->keyboard (I see my both my themes, and can even edit the vnc theme, although this mangles the entry, changes it to "(null)=Alt+space") also logging out and back in, and rebooting... nothing has an effect. xfwm still uses alt-tab to cycle windows, conflicting with the host window in vnc I've seen another posting with this problem http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=177734&highlight=keythemerc but the thread is closed This has worked for me for xfce4 on Fedora...don't know what's wrong now... bug 1264 says that XFCE4 is in process of changing the way keyboard shortcuts are managed. xfce4-about says: version 4.3.90.2 (Xfce 4.4 BETA1) on xubuntu 6 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.edit local or default keythemerc file (as above) 2.logout and back in, or restart xserver, or reboot machine 3.keyboard shortcuts do NOT change (cycle_windows_key is still alt-tab) Actual Results: keyboard shortcuts do not change Expected Results: I expected the keyboard shortcut for cycling windows to change from alt+tab to alt+space
This was removed in 4.4 beta 1 but put back later. See this thread: http://foo-projects.org/pipermail/xfce/2006-May/017518.html
ah, so I just need to wait for the next release... most likely you are asked this constantly, so forgive my asking, but do you have any idea when that would be? thanx, -charlie
oh, sorry, this is probably a question for xubuntu, not you...
Yeap.
