It could be done via using hierarchical structure like in browser like mozilla firefox :-)
I don't agree with you. Should the shortcuts pane then have a search field? The thing is, file managers have a different use than web browsers. In the file manager, you have your folders in a single hierachy. Making a second folder hierachy for shortcuts doesn't make any sense, IMHO, for a file manager like Thunar which aims to be simple. The web, on the other hand, is way bigger and way more disorganized. And while we are at it, I am more a fan of the Epiphany way of doing web browser bookmarks, though I use Firefox for different reasons. Also, the Firefox developers were planning a concept called Places[1] to replace the exsisting bookmarks and history system for version 2.0. They have now delayed this for a later version, but if the feature request of this bug is to be considered, it should be included in the considerations that the concept may not be what most people will want to use in the feature. Ok. Konqueror file manager has the feature I suggest if someone doesn't know that
(In reply to comment #2) > Ok. Konqueror file manager has the feature I suggest if someone doesn't know > that Konqueror is also a web browser (and a lot of other things). Hierachical bookmarks is a traditional feature of web browsers, and makes a lot more sense for such than for applications whose single purpose is simple file management, IMHO.
Maybe later as optional feature. I want to wait for the XBEL stuff to enter GTK+.
Moving to 2.0.0final.
The shortcut pane is for quick access, not for giant bookmark collections. This bug is very old, let's close it.
