I am running the screensaver on Mint 17.3 Problem is that the screensaver only activates once. Once the screensaver/screenlocker is deactivated, it will not activate again, however long I wait. I need then to go into the user interface, and toggle a setting, and only then the screensaver will activate again after the set period of idleness. But again, it will then only work once..... Thanks for any help.
Please test this again with the recently released xfce4-screensaver 0.1.10, this issue should be resolved.
Thanks, but I am kind of a Linux newbie. The Mint software manager only offers 0.1.8. I managed to find and download 0.1.10, but have no idea how to install it. Sorry....:-)
I think I managed already by adding ppa:unit193/xfce to software sources and then updating. Maybe not the way Linux experts would have done it, but seems to get the job done. Now checking whether the issue is solved
Problem not solved. It is slightly better with the new version, in that now the screensaver seems to work multiple times (sometimes), but the max I have managed to reach is 3 times. Also, there is no way of predicting whether it will work only once, or twice, or three times. There seems to be something that switches off the screensaver. The OS is just a plain vanilla Mint 19.03, the only two things I have working on top of standard Mint in the background are Duplicati (but that was not scheduled to run while I was testing) and the Nextcloud client.
