Neither of the keyboard settings as shown in Settings, keyboard, shortcuts for lock screen, xflock4, work, Manjaro stable xfce4, (4.14 ). Lock screen also does not activate and lock when launched from the Whisker menu icon for lock screen. I am a newbie and do not know where else to post this other than here, although it is more than a keyboard issue. Thanks if you can help.
Support channels: https://forum.manjaro.org/ https://forum.xfce.org/ You should make sure that a screen locker is installed and its process is running. The small script 'xflock4' acts as a wrapper and tries to lock the screen using your installed screen locker. https://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-session/tree/scripts/xflock4

I ran a copy I was sent (thanks for that), with user ownership, and it did not lock the screen but did flash something too brief to read. sudo /usr/bin/xflock4 did nothing, even no error reported. This is my first serious bug to deal with. This should have been configured to work for the install, and now any fix is unclear to me. So what is blocking it, how can that be fixed, and once successful, will the OS installer have the new version of whatever or what needs to be done on that ?
Please read comment #1 again and confirm that a) there is a screen locker program installed and b) you are able to lock the screen using its own routine (manual or automatic). Example: Install and launch "xfce4-screensaver", then run the command "xfce4-screensaver-command --lock".
Closing this report. We can reopen it in case there is an actual bug.
Thanks. Reinstalling the xfce lock as suggested and the screen xfce saver, if I recall the screensaver was missing, then rebooting fixed the problem. I do get a black screen now with ctl-alt-l mapped to xflock4, but esc brings up the unlock screen. The bug per se was that the Manjaro installer did not include all the xfce components; a bit of an issue for new users. The black screen would put people off too. Thanks for the advice.
