Almost, but not quite that. My file opens, which I did not select, but lies in the folder next to it. When you try to open music, the picture next to it opens. It is not clear because of the extension or because it is the last in the folder.
In the video you unselect the last file, and that action sets a new "cursor item". Pressing Enter will open this item (see comment #23 in the other report).
But then I also try without highlighting the last file, and it still opens.
Thanks for reporting ! I can reproduce the bug, but only in icon and compact view. So possibly related to exo. For me not the "next" item after the selection is selected and opened after pressing "enter", but the very last item inside the folder. Patches would be very welcome !
Ah, bug only appears when using rubberband to select files. Bug does not show when selecting files via keyboard. Any you need to use the keyboard shortcut to open the files .. bug does not show when using the context menu.

Right After all, in the second half of the video, I also see that the last file is launched, and not the next. But it is not clear whether this is due to the file format or the fact that it is the last. I have not checked it yet.
An experimental patch is now available in bug 2487.
