Steps to reproduce: 0) start with initial config, then set Settings/Screensaver/Regard the computer as idle after to 1 minute (for convenience) 1) press "Applications" button, leave the menu open 2) wait for one minute Actual result: Nothing happens until you close the Applications menu. If there was one minute idle time while the menu was open, the screen will lock immediately after the menu is closed. Expected result: The screen should lock regardless of whether the Applications Menu is open or not.
This is unfortunately an X11 restriction. While a menu is open, it is impossible to steal the focus and display the screensaver. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19946
